Ready? 3, 2, 1 - Let's go!
Smiling and feeling fulfilled, happy and grateful, we are finalizing this year’s campaign Let’s run for a child’s smile, which started in May this year.
The team made up of the director of the foundation Ivana, program coordinator Nerma, and seven volunteers – Nejla, Iman, Iris, Emin, Džejla, Elmira and Amila, who symbolically called themselves Marathoners, have diligently worked to create positive changes and filled the lives of children in need with only happy moments, and to accomplish that they collectively contributed over 770 hours of volunteering.
This campaign was successfully realized by two races, by participating in the quiz Nisam ti pametan, as well as by the event Forgotten games, in which older and younger brothers and sisters and numerous friends of the foundation remembered the games which used to fulfill everyone’s childhood.
Thanks to our wonderful associates – NGO Marathon, Philanthropic forum B&H, The Foundation of Tuzla Community, Nisam ti pametan quiz, public corporation “Lokom” llc, plus our excellent team of runners, 34 of them, who ran for child’s smile, and we proudly present the number of 9 470.58 BAM they’ve collected.
“As it is already known, our association cherishes the humanitarian character of its operation from its very first steps, thus making all races organized by NGO Marathon simultaneously humanitarian ones. We are absolutely proud of the fact that besides promoting sport and a healthy way of life, with little gestures, and doing what we really love, we can make the world a better place and help those who really need it. We count every kilometer sold as a child’s smile, and we know we are on a good path. This couldn’t be organized without our running community, which is growing year after year. And we are very proud of all our runners, who ardently try to contribute to the humanitarian mission of our races” – these are the words of our friend Alija Imamovic, the representative of NGO Marathon.
We want to use this opportunity to thank our donators as well, who again recognized the value of our work and with their humanitarian engagement showed that our society still undoubtedly has feelings for empathy and social responsibility. We are speaking about 5 companies: Klika, Center for the promotion of civil society, Evolt, Demus llc, KPMG, Triglav Assurance, etc.
Nejla Nukic, a long-time older sister, but also a member of the marathoners' team, shared with us her impression of this year’s campaign: “I have learned so much from this campaign, mostly about myself. I have improved my skills in communicating, adapting, and learning new cognitions. I have met some wonderful people who inspired me to work and learn even more and to be a better person because of the noble goal of the campaign. This campaign was an amazing experience for me, I have gained so much, of which I have hopefully returned at least a little bit.”
In the end, we are to put down into our book of memories this wonderful experience, outstanding cooperation with the new partners, newly acquired skills as well as moments of laughter and hard work.
