The quality of the implementation of the "Older Brother, Older Sister" Program, with the aim of collecting information on achievements as well as areas for improvement, is analyzed based on specially designed and standardized evaluation questionnaires. When it comes to mentees (i.e., children aged six to fourteen), special focus in the evaluation is placed on the relationship with volunteers/mentors, how free time is spent, exposure to educational and cultural events, socially desirable behaviors, and self-image. Since children with developmental disabilities are also included in the Program, a specially adapted questionnaire is provided for them.
In addition to significantly benefiting its end users, the Program is also extremely important for volunteers and mentors. Therefore, their work and progress throughout the cycle are also analyzed based on specially designed and standardized evaluation questionnaires, with a focus on their relationship with the mentees, areas of child development, beliefs and attitudes toward at-risk children, personal values and motivation, as well as self-assessment of skills and traits. Since we value their opinions, the questionnaire also includes recommendations from our mentors.
Based on the aforementioned questionnaires, the most significant results of the Program for the 2022/2023 cycle, concerning mentees and their mentors, are as follows:
